2005 Ram 3500 SLT Laramie |
Have a look at one of our rarest of units we have on the lot today. A 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 SLT Dually Laramie with the formidable 5.9L Cummins! If you’re new to the diesel world allow me to explain. Let’s say you collect hockey cards for a hobby and you have that one card you cherish over all others, for instance maybe a 1st edition Wayne Gretzky card with the Edmonton Oilers. This is the engine everyone wants- you hear of people all around the world who make 5.9L Cummins swaps into their trucks. There are a ton of reasons why 80% of the diesel world prefers a 5.9L Cummins in their truck. 5.9L Cummins are strong enough to handle whatever upgrades you throw at it and they will last longer than most if not all diesel engines out there, with regular maintenance. There has been many reports of 5.9L Cummins engines going well over the 1,000,000km mark, with only 115,000km on ours you will have tons of life left in this engine.
Now if we move more towards what the 5.9L Cummins is capable of. This 2005 Ram 3500 SLT produces a very impressive (especially for the time) 325HP @ 2,900 RPM and 600 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 RPM. As far as towing goes, from factory these 2005 Dodge Ram 3500’s can tow up to 15,500lb of trailer weight. I guarantee that is more than enough power to tow/haul whatever you desire, within reason.
Let’s talk a little bit about the truck itself now instead of the engine (as impressive as it is). Redwater Dodge’s 2005 Ram 3500 SLT Dually comes with the Laramie Package. This includes power and heated seats, leather Faced seats, and air conditioning . The only option that is really missing out of this Laramie is the sunroof, which would have been the previous owner’s request as he mainly used this truck for work on the farm. You will not see many 2005 Ram 3500 5.9L’s with the Laramie package, they are rare commodities, especially in the great condition this one is in. There is often the perception that the body will be completely rusted out or banged up with a ten year old truck. I promise this truck is 99% rust free-you and that you will not find a 2005 body as mint as this one is anywhere else!
One very handy option on this 2005 Ram 3500 SLT is the full trailer-tow package. The package features tow mirrors, hitch, receiver, tow-haul mode, and engine brake. However, one aftermarket towing item that has been added is a 5th wheel hitch. The previous owner put an add-on which makes the tow-package even better- a digital turbo monitor, this handy gadget sits on-board your driver’s side pillar and monitors exactly how hot your turbo is running at in addition to determining you what kind of boost your turbo is running at. This is very useful in the work area as you don’t want your turbo overheating while towing. It’s a little more common than one may think, especially on a hot day. Very much like the hot days we have been having here lately in beautiful Redwater, Alberta. Also, the previous owner added something to keep the engine a little cooler- an aftermarket cold air intake, most people know what the purpose of these are, but in short form it’s simply to cool down the air going into the engine along with bringing in more air in general to increase efficiency and power. This also means better towing capabilities.
A combination of old school braun and innovative technology is what makes this already rare truck so much more impressive. The truck was bred for work, ask any diesel mechanic or diesel enthusiast and I guarantee they will agree about all of these attributes. This 2005 Ram 3500 SLT were built to last both on the road and off, the only place they don’t last long is in Redwater Dodge’s lot!
