Important Safety Recall Information for Dodge Ram Owners

FCA (FIAT Chrysler Automobiles) Canada recently announced a safety recall on Dodge Rams. Model years involved are some 2008 – 2012 Ram 1500/2500/3500 series Trucks.

Anyone wanting to know if their vehicle is affected can submit the last eight digits of their VIN below. (Vehicle Identification Number)

To find out if your vehicle qualifies, complete the form below and submit the last eight digits of your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number).








 


NOTE: If you own a Chrysler Dodge Jeep or RAM vehicle you believe may be affected by any other recall, you can use the form above to find out.

Below we’ve posted the official letter FCA sent to RAM owners. If you have not received one of these letters, or if you have and you no longer own the vehicle, please contact us immediately.

Dear Vehicle Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

This is a follow up to an earlier communication. FCA Canada has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in some 2008 through 2012 model year RAM 1500/2500/3500 series Trucks.

The problem is:

The left tie rod ball stud may fracture under certain driving conditions.   This could cause a loss of directional control and/or crash without warning.

What your dealer will do: 

FCA Canada will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labour). To do this, your dealer will replace steering linkage components.In addition, you are eligible to receive a special limited time incentive offer of up to $2,000 towards the retail purchase or lease of an eligible new vehicle, provided the outstanding recall is completed. This offer will be in addition to all other incentives available at the time of purchase or lease. This special limited time incentive offer is available until January 4, 2016. See your retailer for full details.

What you must do to ensure your safety:

Contact your authorized RAM dealer to schedule a service appointment.

If you have already experienced this condition and have paid to have it repaired, you will still be required to have the campaign performed by an authorized FCA Canada dealer at no charge to you. Would that be the explanation for the wobble when I’m traveling at speeds higher then 100km??? Good to know!!! Will be sent to the shop ASAP

I had a 2011 3500 and had the recall done and have now traded the truck in on a 2015 3500. Can I still get the rebate?

Hey Trevor – Our understanding (according the the letter from FCA posted on this page) is that the rebate program ended The first week of January. That said, it certainly wouldn’t hurt to give your dealer a call and ask.

I have an to replace my tie rod and tow truck out of car wash. ! Also experience death wobble which I had to replace front end parts

Hello there. I’m sorry to hear about the break-down in the car wash. A tow truck is never a good experience. This is precisely why we’re trying to reach out to people though, to try and identify the recalls before these incidents occur.

This is very new news to me, so if the issue is that dangerous how can your put an expiry date on this to have the recall repaired at the manufacture’s expense?

Hey Tony. There’s no time limit on the recall, just the rebate program for those people who want to buy a new vehicle.
