Ram captured several industry awards last year, continuing its long established reputation for excellence.
In the 2014 Canadian Truck King Challenge, the Ram 1500 was named “2014 Canadian Truck King” in both the Under $45,000 Category and Over $45,000 Category, while the Ram 2500 got the title for the 3/4 Ton Category.
Howard Elmer with the Canadian Truck Challenge had this to say about the Dodge Ram family; “The sweep of the 2014 awards by Ram shows just how hard this group has been working. While many scores this year were very, very close, Ram did edge out its competition in all three categories with quality, styling and innovative powertrain choices – like the new 3.0L EcoDiesel and the eight-speed transmission.”
Keeping with the royalty theme, the Ram 3500 was named “King of Beasts” by PickupTrucks.com.
“From the engine and transmission working through the midlevel gearing, to the grade braking in the transmission software working in concert with the exhaust brake, to the level of seating comfort and support to make long hauls feel like an easy day’s drive, it all works and fits seamlessly together,” says PickupTrucks.com editor Mark Williams. “This new Ram 3500 HD controls huge amounts of weight as if it were carrying a much smaller load, and you get out of the truck at the end of a long day of towing feeling like you haven’t been. Showing that Ram knows trucks outside and inside, the Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn received recognition as one of Ward’s “10 Best Interiors” while the 2.6 Pentastar V6 engine that can be found in many Ram trucks took home recognition from 2013 Ward’s Automotive as one of its “10 Best Engines.”
“The instrument cluster looks like a fine chronograph. Both front and rear seats are heated, as well as the full circumference of the steering wheel. The wood trim is natural-looking and of the highest quality. Other amenities are too numerous to mention,” Drew Winter, Editor-in-Chief of WardsAuto World magazine says. “If Bentley made a pickup truck, this is what the cabin would look like.”
The Ram was all over the map as far as awards, with the Ram 1500 winning the Texas Auto Writers Association’s (TAWA) “Truck of Texas” award and the entire Ram family winning the Vincentric “2013 Best Value Truck Brand in Canada.” Not only did Ram rule the north and the south, but the it ruled the entire continent, with the Ram 1500 grabbing “2013 Truck of the Year” from the North American Car/Truck of the Year awards.
“The Ram, Jeep and Dodge brands from Chrysler Group clearly impressed our TAWA members at this year’s event,” TAWA President Michael Marrs says. “There’s no doubt that innovative powertrains, impressive designs and new technologies are paying off for these brands. A total of 63 pickups, SUVs and crossover vehicles were entered in this year’s rodeo.”
The 2013 Consumer Digest gave the Ram 1500 a “Best Buy” designation, while 2013 Automobile Magazine gave it an “All Star” rating and Consumer Reports gave the Ram 1500 a “Recommended” designation.

Perhaps the cherry on top of the sundae that was the Ram 1500’s year for 2013, though, was being named Motor Trend Magazine’s “Truck of the Year®,” making the first ever back-to-back winner when the Ram 1500 took the 2014 title as well.
Not being one to sit back and bask in the limelight for long, Ram is already looking forward to conquering the awards landscape in 2014, too.
